Kristine J. McKinzey, age 49, of Iron River, MI, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2014 as the result of an automobile accident.
She was born on November 15, 1964 in Midwest City, Ok, the daughter of David and Darlene (Coleman) McKinzey. She graduated as an honor roll student from Bonneville High School. Later, attending Utah State University where she was on the Dean’s List throughout College. Kristine received her degree as a registered Dietician with honors. Upon graduation, she became a member of the American Dietary Association.
Kristine worked as a dietician for over 20 years and was employed at North Star and Dickinson County Hospitals. She loved her work and was most happy when doing her job.
Kristine was a very artistic and accomplished painter. Animals were her favorite subject matter. While still in High school, one of her paintings was selected by a state-wide panel, to be hung in the newly renovated Ogden Train Depot for a period of time. Her love of animals was quite evident in the joy her 3 cats gave her. They were her children; Annie, Sam and Stevie, and they dearly loved her.
Kristine is survived by her friend and companion, Jerry Talamonti of Iron River; mother and step-father Darlene and Richard Larsen, whom she referred to as, Pop, of Wisconsin Dells, WI; her father and step-mother, David and Dorothy McKinzey , Ogden, UT. ; sisters, Jackie Stoner of Spring Green, WI., Kay Morgan of Tucson, AZ; brothers, Keith McKinzey of Tucson, AZ; and Kim McKinzey of San Francisco, CA, and many nieces, friends and extended family.
A memorial service will be held for Kristine Friday, January 31, 2014 at 11:00 am at Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg, WI. Visitation will also be on Friday, at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the time of service.
The family would prefer memorials be given to a memorial fund established in Kristine’s name for the Northwood’s Animal Shelter (930 Selden Rd. Iron River, MI 49935).
