Born: November 22,1942 in Cudahy, WI

The son of John Thomas and Sylvia (Guse) Helgeson attended the Cudahy Schools, graduating from Cudahy High School. Following graduation, he attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering. He moved to the Iron River area in 1979.

John married the former Sally Barinotti on December 20, 1997 in Iron River where the couple made their home.

He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Iron River. John loved gardening, carpentry, music and the arts. He volunteered for many community programs and enjoyed serving as a local DJ for many years.

He was preceded in death by his father, John.

He is survived by his wife, Sally

                                            and Leah

Visitation: Tuesday, November 15, 2011 from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church, Iron River.

Funeral Service: Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church, Iron River, with Rev. Bonny Kinnunen to officiate.

Interment: Stambaugh Cemetery, Iron River

Just the other day I heard a song by Journey and it brought me back to being in high school, sleeping over Jeff's house and listening to music with John. We shared ideas about music and musicians and he was always there to listen and offer advise about ideas, current events and troubles. He was like a second dad to me in high school. He will be greatly missed. God bless you all and comfort you in this difficult time.
