William “Bill” S. Marcell Age 69 Iron River, MI
Passed away May 16, 2012.
Born November 16, 1942 in Stambaugh, MI.
The son of the late Stanley and Dorothy (Hooper) Marcell attended the Iron River schools, graduating from the Iron River High School in 1961. Bill was a salesman for 25 years and also owned and operated Mertin’s Café and the Wooden Nickel Saloon for several years.
Bill married Joan Gehlhoff on August 29, 1964 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian and the couple were lifelong residents of Iron/Dickinson County area. They celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary in 2009. She preceded him in death on February 2, 2010.
Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cutting wood. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, at his camp, and at “The Point” at Stanley Lake.
He is survived by his children, Jenny Marcell (J.B. Allen) of Iron River, her children, DJ and Aspen and his daughters, Trinity and Haley; Stanley Marcell (Cheri Hinshaw) of Iron River and his children, Devon, Zach, and Mariah and her children, Cassi and Brady; Claire Marcell; his sister, Jackie McGreaham of Iron River; and his angel, Nancy Carlson of Stambaugh.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at the family hunting camp.
