#12 Mary A. Bauer daughter ofGenevieve Miatech Kennedy 2013-02-26 15:07 I was so sorry to hear of Uncle Bernie's passing. He was a quiet man, but always warm & welcoming. I remember visiting Uncle Bernie & Aunt Nancy with my Mom. The adults gathering around the table , drinking coffee & talking about family in Iron River & across the US. Family was so important to them all. My condolences on your loss. Quote

#14 Dave OBrien 2013-03-01 15:00 Was sad to read in my hometown paper of the passing of Bernard St. Germain at age 90. He was my barber in Iron River, MI from around 1952–59, plus years later when I went home for vacation. He was known for speed. His cuts (for me) never took longer than 7 minutes. He told me that earlier in his career he was down to two minutes a head. “When the mines were running,” he once told me, “I once did over 200 cuts on a Friday afternoon and evening.” Bernard appeared to keep up a constant patter, which is easy to do when you get your customer in and out in under 10 minutes. Bernard always gave me my hair cuts when I ran
Selin's Hardware in Iron River, Mi. He always challenged your political beliefs. I kind of liked that.
