Adeline J. Karney

Adeline J. Karney, age 92, of Ferndale, MI, passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Greenfield Rehab and Nursing Center in Royal Oak, Michigan. She was born January 11, 1926 in Iron River, MI; the daughter of the late Walter and Bessie (Drozdowski) Karney. She grew up in the Morrison Lake area and attended the Iron River Schools. After high school, she moved to Detroit. While residing there, she was employed by Sears, Roebuck and Company, until retirement. She also performed volunteer work at the Detroit Opera House. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends, and delighted in taking in the “sites” of Michigan, both in the Upper and Lower Peninsulas.  Adeline is survived by her sister, Ann Vick of Berkley, MI; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by brothers: Benjamin, Edward and Chester Karney and sisters: Irene Sanderson and Vina Meyers.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 11:00 am at the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Iron River with Rev. Gregory Veneklase to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery. The family suggests memorial donations to St. Agnes Catholic Church.
