Adlore "Joe" Schober

Adlore “Joe” Schober, age 88, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018 at the Aspirus Iron River Hospital following a lengthy illness.  He was surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on June 29, 1929 in Crystal Falls, MI, the son of the late Joseph and Jennie Mae (Paro) Schober. He attended the Crystal Falls Schools, graduating with the Class of 1948. Joe was employed by the M.A. Hanna Mining Company at the Groveland Mine and retired from there after 26 years.   Joe married Geraldine “Gerry” Applin on September 11, 1948 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Iron River.  They raised four children and celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary last September.  He was a former member of the Iron River Fraternal Order of the Eagles Lodge 1603, serving as Vice President.  He enjoyed woodworking and dancing.    Joe is survived by his loving wife, Gerry; daughter, Chris (Lee) Rhino and son, Joseph (Jeannie) Schober, both of Iron River; youngest daughter, Kathy Carpenter of Pensacola, FL; seven grandchildren, Heidi Plog and Holly (AJ) Higdon, both of Green Bay, WI, Troy (Ashley) Schober of Gaastra, MI, Wesley (Sarah) Schober and Cory (Megan) Schober, both of Marquette, MI, Joey Schober of California, and Patrick (Courtney) O’Brien of Pensacola, FL; seven great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; special nieces, Susan Vecellio of Colorado Springs, CO and Sharon Smith of Pensacola, FL; special friends, Darrin and Tanya Kurtz; and extended family and friends.  In addition to his parents, Joe was also preceded in death by his oldest daughter, Sandy Plog of DePere, WI; two sisters, Evelyn Anderson and Ethel Anderson; and one brother, John Schober.  Private family services will be held.
