Albert H. Hawke, age 81 of Iron River, MI died Monday, December 15, 2008 at his home. Born: July 21, 1927 in Caspian, MI The son of the late Howard and Eva (Duscharme) Hawke Sr. attended the Stambaugh schools and graduated. He was a U.S. Army veteran during the Korean War and was awarded the Korean Service Medal with two bronze stars. He was a lifelong resident of the area and was employed as a truck driver by Hebert Construction for 18 years prior to his retirement. Albert married the former June Soderena on March 30, 1972 and the couple made their home in Iron River. They celebrated their 27th wedding anninversary this year. He was a life member of the American Legion Reino Post #21 of Stambaugh. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish, hunt, and camp. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Curtis and Harold Hawke, sister Myrtle Reid, and one step granddaughter. He is survived by his wife June Son, Joseph Carne of Green Bay, WI Daughters. Funeral Service: Saturday, December 20, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River, with the Rev. Mark Ryan to officiate. The West Side Veterans Council will accord Military Rites.
