Albert E. Nardi, age 92 of Gaastra, MI, died Thursday September 3, 2009 at the Northstar Health System, Iron River. Born: June 25, 1917 in Stambaugh, MI The son of the late Joseph and Anna (Groppo) Nardi attended the Stambaugh schools and graduated in 1935. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, serving in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater as Master Sergeant in the Motor Pool Division until his honorable discharge in 1945 Albert married the former Helen Metros on August 13, 1945 in Iron River and the couple made their home in Iron River. Helen preceded him in death on January 5, 1977. Al was the owner and operator of Nardi Motors Sales in Iron River for 32 years retiring in August, 1984. He married the former Carmen ""Bobbi"" Pretto-Sartorelli on October 16, 1981 in Gaastra and the couple made their home in Gaastra. They celebrated their Silver Wedding Anniversary in 2006. He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian, the Iron River Elks Lodge #1671, VFW Ottawa Post # 3134, American Legion Alfred Branchini Post #17, and was a volunteer fireman for Iron River Fire Department for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing bocce ball at Duc A Bruzzi and his cottage at Stanley Lake. He especially loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by three sisters; Rose Mottes, Emma Barlock, and Irene Howard. He is survived by his wife ""Bobbi"" Two daughters; Janet ( John) Cozzuol of Appleton, WI Suzanne (Tim) Olson of Appleton, WI One step-daughter, Christine (Carl) Anderson of Houghton, MI Two step-sons; Mark (Jan) Sartorelli of Appleton, WI Bruce (Kathy) Sartorelli of Iron River Nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren Visitation: Wednesday, September 9, 2009 from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Caspian. The fireman of the Iron Range Fire Fighters Association will attend the visitation at 9:30 a.m. Funeral Service: Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Caspian, with Rev. Norman Clisch, pastor to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment: Stambaugh Cemetery, Iron River, MI The West Side Veterans Council will accord Military Rites.
