Alice J. Olson (Wodzinski), age 91of Iron River, entered into Heaven on December 23, 2011 at the Iron River Care Center. She was born on June 6th 1920 in Gaastra, Michigan, the daughter of the late Guy Gallup and Edna (Lund) Gallup. She attended the Palatka and Stambaugh schools, graduating from Stambaugh High School in 1938. Alice worked as a receptionist for the M. A. Hanna Mining Company, secretary for the First Presbyterian Church of Iron River and teller for the Iron River National Bank. Alice was a Scout leader for many years. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed gardening and having tea and conversation with friends and neighbors. She was a life long member of the First Presbyterian Church of Iron River. She married Matthew Wodzinski in 1938. he passed away in August of 1964. She later married William Olson in 1971. He passed away in 1990. She has three surviving sons,; Allan (Julie - deceased) Wodzinski of Iron River, Dale (Sherry) Wodzinski of York, PA, and Richard (Sandy) Wodzinski of Manistique, MI. Alice is also survived by three step children, Iris (Davod) Remondine of Saginaw, MI, William (Judy) Olson of Iron River, and George (Sandy) Olson of Norway, MI. She leaves behind many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Alice was preceded in death by five siblings, sisters, Jeannette Eckerburg and Clarice Bengrey, and brothers, Harold Gallup, Arnold Gallup (surviving sister-in-law, Fannie Gallup of Beechwood), and Norman Gallup. Date and time for memorial services will be announced later. They will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Iron River and will be presided over by Alice's niece, Reverend Dawn Treado Green. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Iron River, 525 West Adams Street, Iron River, MI 49935 Funeral arrangements by the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River.
