Alice V. Strom

Alice V. Strom, age 92, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at the Iron River Care Center. She was born on March 7, 1931, in Florence, WI, the daughter of the late Matt and Hilda (Viita) Lantinen. She attended the Florence Schools, graduating with the class of 1948. Alice married Evert Strom on June 3, 1950, in Homestead, WI. They celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary in 1979. Evert preceded her in death on October 6, 1979. She was employed over the years at the Follow Through program at the school, the U.S. Forest Service, and Coleman Products in Iron River. Alice was a member of the First Lutheran Church. She enjoyed reading, collecting dolls, spending time with her dogs, and writing, especially letters, as she loved corresponding with many people. Alice is survived by her sons, Scott Strom and Evert Strom, Jr., both of Iron River, MI; daughters, Judy (Donald) Evans of Merrill, WI and Pamela (Marc) Toenneson of Gwinn, MI; brother, Thomas (Florence) Lantinen of Appleton, WI; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; one step great great granddaughter; many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Arnold, Toivo, and Gust Lantinen; sisters, Helen McMahon, Sylvia Prussat, Aileen Carlson, Alma Lund, and Lillian Borgman; and two infant brothers. A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at First Lutheran Church. A funeral will follow at 12 p.m. with Vicar Lance Crevier to officiate.
