Alita D. Evans, 67, of Iron River, MI passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.
She was born on May 19, 1958, in Tomahawk, WI, the daughter of the late Geroge and Alta (Shrofe) Bushor. Alita was the only member of her family born in the hospital. She attended the Hylandale Academy and graduated.
Alita married Donald “Barry” Evans on May 8, 1976, in Clearwater, Lake, WI. The couple celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary in 2019. Barry preceded her in death on January 4, 2020.
She was employed as a truck driver for Sowinski Trucking. Alita was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary and a former member of the Lady Elks in Iron River. She enjoyed her expressive earrings and her opinionated T-shirts.
Alita is survived by her children, Nikki (Donovan) Wheeler, Cody (Shavon Spaulding) Evans, and Heather (Seth) Verhagen, all of Iron River, MI; siblings, Darwin (Barbara) Bushor of Merrill, WI, Ardis Teal of Tomahawk, WI, Roger (Donna) Bushor of North Dakota, Juanita (Ron) Evans of Merrill, WI, and Teresa (Bill) Mortenson of Tomahawk WI; brother-in-law, Val Thilmany of Rhinelander, WI; sister-in-law, Sally Bushor of Tomahawk, WI; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her infant son; brothers, Roland, Arvid, Wayne, Roderick, and Marvin Bushor; and sisters, Ramona Bushor and Donna Thilmany.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Windsor Center. A memorial service will follow at 12:30 p.m. with Wesley Bushor and Rob Bruette to officiate.
