Allan J. Wodzinski, age 77, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls. He was born November 10, 1940 in Stambaugh, MI, the son of Matthew and Alice (Gallup) Wodzinski. He was a United States Army Veteran, and employed as a Superintendent in the Construction Industry at Ryan, Inc. for most of his career. Allan married Julie Ann Bosko on December 9, 1961 in Chicago, IL, and the couple made their home in Bates Township. They celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary in 2009, before Julie Ann preceded him in death on September 13, 2010. He opened, owned and operated the “Woodz Inn” with his wife Julie, located in Bates, for 12 years, retiring in 2005. He was a member of the Bates Township Board for many years, as well as a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Iron River, American Legion Reino Post # 21 and VFW Ottawa Post # 3134. He enjoyed reading and loved spending time in the outdoors, while he was hunting, fly fishing, boating, four wheeling and snowmobiling. Allan is survived by his daughters, Lisa (Robert) Mealer of Sandwich, IL, and Laura (John) Matts of Dahinda, IL; grandchildren, Natalie (Dirk) Guenther, Austin Mealer, Jason Mealer, and Jennifer (Sam) Hentchel; great grandchildren, Ben Guenther, Ash Guenther, and Bryson Hentchel; brothers, Dale (Sherry) Wodzinski of York, PA, and Richard (Sandy) Wodzinski of Manistique, MI. Private family services will be held.
