Allen L. Bittner, Sr.

Allen L. Bittner, Sr., age 74, of Gaastra, MI, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2023, at the Iron River Care Center. He was born on August 20, 1948, in Chicago, IL, the son of Howard and Rosemary (Brayton) Bittner. He attended the Chicago area schools. Allen married Kathleen Weese on September 11, 1971. The couple later made their home in Caspian, MI. They celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary in 2010. Kathy preceded him in death on June 21, 2011. He was employed in maintenance at the casino. Allen enjoyed going to the casino, camping, and spending time working on things in his garage. Allen is survived by sons, Mike (Crystal) Bittner and Allen L. (April) Bittner Jr, both of Iron River, MI; daughters, Christine (Ken) Degroot of Iron Mountain, MI, Carrie Bittner of Iron Mountain, MI, Heather (Dave) Bennett of Iron River, MI and Kim (Levi) Geneman of Iron River, MI; brother, Andrew Bittner of Arizona; sisters, Cherri, Rita, Jay, and Kay; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; extended family and friends. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home Inc. of Iron River with Pastor DJ Rasner to officiate.
