Anna M. Bushie, age 88, Iron River, MI died Saturday, March 1, 2008 at the Iron County Community Hospital, Iron River. Born: July 6, 1919 in Havana, IL The daughter of the late A. T. and Minnie (Winchester) Layne moved to Pekin in 1928 and graduated from Pekin High School in 1939. She married Irven Sanders on November 11, 1939 and he preceded her in death in April, 1941. Anna later married Floyd Bushie on July 6, 1945 and he preceded her in death on March 24, 1973. During WWII she was employed at the Caterpillar Tractor Company in Peoria. In 1949, the couple moved to Stambaugh, MI and opened Bushie's Fairway Store which they operated for 14 years. She later worked for Dorothy's Food Market and Finemans Department Store. She then worked as a cook for West Iron County Schools for 14 years, retiring in 1987. Anna was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church of Iron River, the Wesley United Methodist Women's Club, the Northland Chorus, and a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary Reino Post # 21 of Stambaugh. She loved music and sang in church choirs for over 50 years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards, watching sports, especially basketball (avid Cubs fan), and playing bingo with friends at the Iron River Care Center. She was also preceded in death by five brothers and 2 sisters. She is survived by two sons; Robbie (Jean) Bushie of Hancock, MI Dennis (Karyn) Bushie of Green Bay, WI Two daughters; Connie (Robert) Jagelewski of Gaastra Sharon (Richard) Ross of Pekin, IL 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren Visitation: Wednesday, March 5, 2008 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Wesley United Methodist Church, Iron River. The ladies of the American Legion Auxilary Reino Post #21 will conduct a Memorial Service at 10:00 a.m. Funeral Service: Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wesley United Methodist Church, Iron River with Rev. Mark Ryan to officiate. Interment: Stambaugh Cemetery, Iron River The family suggest memorials to the Wesley United Methodist Church of Iron River.
