Ardis M. Gagnea, 95, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls, MI. She was born on February 9, 1929, in Gaastra, MI, the daughter of the late Gustaf and Hannah (Soderstrom) Carlson. She attended the Gaastra School and graduated from Stambaugh High School. Ardis married Arthur Gagnea on October 22, 1949, at the First Lutheran Church in Iron River, MI. The couple celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary in 2021. Arthur preceded her in death on February 27, 2022. She was employed at the Commercial Bank of Stambaugh and for a short time at the First National Bank of Iron River. Ardis was a member of First Lutheran Church, the Quilting Society at First Lutheran, and the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 410. She enjoyed knitting, quilting, sewing, and crocheting. Ardis is survived by her son, Robert (Sharon) Gagnea of Iron River, MI; daughters, Ruth (Ben) Golas of Eau Claire, WI and Barbara (Keith) Shaw of Grand Blanc, MI; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Roy Gagnea; sister-in-law, Irene Donati; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Arthur and Herbert Carlson; and sisters, Ruth Harris, Helen Johnson, Doris Rucinski, Myrtle Carlson, Ethel Sharrard, and Eleanor Carlson. A visitation will be held on Monday, May 12, 2025, from 10am to 11am at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. A funeral service will follow at 11am with Vicar Lance Crevier to officiate. Interment will be in Stambaugh Cemetery.
