Arthur J. Gagnea

Arthur "Bud" J. Gagnea, age 93, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2022, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls, MI. He was born on July 6, 1928, in Menominee, MI, the son of the late Louis and Myrtle (Baker) Gagnea. He grew up in Gibbs City, MI and attended the Iron River Schools. Arthur served his country in the U.S. Navy. Arthur married Ardis Carlson on October 22, 1949, at the First Lutheran Church in Iron River, MI. The couple celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary in 2021. He was employed as a miner for M.A. Hanna. Arthur was a member of First Lutheran Church. He enjoyed bird and deer hunting, watching football and baseball, and working outside. Arthur is survived by his wife, Ardis; son, Robert (Sharon) Gagnea of Iron River, MI; daughters, Ruth (Ben) Golas of Eau Claire, WI and Barbara (Keith) Shaw of Grand Blanc, MI; brother, Roy Gagnea of Iron River, MI; sister, Irene Donati of Iron River, MI; eight grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, John “Jack”, Robert, and Odean Gagnea and sisters, Lillian Pitts, Agnes Erickson, Barbara and Georgia Gagnea. A graveside service will be held at Stambaugh Cemetery in the spring. The West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites at the service.
