Audrey Mae VanLanen, age 87, of Green Bay, WI, formerly of Gaastra, MI, passed away Friday, June 24, 2016. Audrey was born May 8, 1929 in Bruce Crossing, MI, the daughter of the late Clarence and Ellen (Karjala) Kuehnl. She attended the Ewen, Michigan schools and graduated. Audrey married Leonard Lemense and he preceded her in death. She later married Earl VanLanen on October 22, 1966 and the couple resided in Green Bay, WI, moving to Gaastra in 1981. Earl preceded her in death in 2005. Audrey was employed at the Iron County Medical Care Facility as a Nurse Assistant for many years, retiring in 1991. She attended the River Church Iron River and the Bethel Pentecostal Church of Long Lake. She enjoyed baking, gardening, reading, going to rummage sales, and especially spending time with her grandchildren and family. Audrey is survived by her sons, Leonard (Terri) Lemense and Patrick (Faye) Lemense, both of Green Bay, WI, and Joel (Diana) VanLanen of Iron River; daughters, Gail (Jame) Gillis of Denmark, WI, Brenda Brown of Green Bay, WI, Cynthia (Rick) Reimer or Green Bay, WI, Lana (Jack) Schoeppe, of Racine, WI, and Rhonda (Dean) Sledge of Caspian; brother, Bernard (Francis) Kuehnl of Racine, WI, sister, Judy (Cliff) Hill of Ontonagon, MI; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Clarence Kuehnl Jr., and Robert Kuehnl, and sister, Jeanette Godfried. Funeral services be held Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the River Church of Iron River, with Pastor James Pellizzer and Pastor Sandy Froland to officiate. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Bruce Crossing, MI.
