Barbara H. Robbins, age 82, of Gaastra, Michigan passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls, MI. She was born on July 29, 1935, in Pontiac, MI; the daughter of the late C. Raymond and Ethel (Howard) Huntwork. She attended Pioneer High School and Stone School in Ann Arbor, MI. Barbara married D. Daniel Robbins on December 26, 1954 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Iron River and a Church Elder. She was the owner and operator of a typist service for 35 years. Barbara was known state wide for her method of teaching American Sign Language with her bear and also authored a series of sign language books. She enjoyed spending time with her husband, Daniel, and was his sidekick until he passed away. She also enjoyed staying connected with her friends on the internet. Barbara is survived by her sons, Michael (Pastor Dawn) Robbins of Gaastra, MI, Daniel (Rebecca) Robbins of Rome, NY; son-in-law, Steve Sweet of Weyauwega, WI; sisters, Dorothy Shields, Terri (William) Addison, Katherine (Larry Purtzenski) Stahl, and Margery Huntwork ; grandchildren, Owen (Jennifer) Swinford, Jamie and Michael Travis, Lynden (Danny) Churchill, Samuel Robbins, Robert and MacKenzie Robbins, Aeon; and great grandchildren, Jordan, Allegra, Evan, Noah James and Drew Christine; and nieces, nephews, and extended family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Gayle, and son, Richard. A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2018 from 1 to 3 pm at the First Presbyterian Church, with a memorial service following at 3 pm with Pastor Dawn Robbins to officiate.
