Bernard “Bud” A. Hermanson, Jr., age 77, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born on August 14, 1943 in Waukegan, IL, the son of the late Bernard and Dorothy (Washburn) Hermanson, Sr. He attended the Waukegan Schools, graduating from Waukegan East High School. After graduation he was employed as a pipefitter for Northshore Gas Co. until he retired in 1995. Bud married Sandra Johnson on November 20, 1965 at the First Methodist Church in Waukegan. The couple moved to Iron River after they both retired in 1995. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in 2020. After moving to Iron River, he worked for Krist Oil for 18 years and during that time he took the CDL test and fulfilled a life’s wish to drive semi-trucks, delivering gasoline and propane. Bud was a member of the Waukegan Scuba Diving Club and Conservation Club of Bristol, WI. He was an avid deer hunter in both Wyoming and the Iron River area and was an avid gun collector. He was also a proud member of the Iron River Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years. Bud is survived by his wife, Sandra of Iron River, MI; son, Keith (Dawn) Hermanson of Zion, IL; sister, Bernis Underwood of Waukegan, IL; nephew, Raymond (Angel) Underwood of Waukegan, IL; and many other nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Private family services will be held.
