Frances ""Bernie"" B. Johnson Age 87 Iron River, MIPassed away Saturday, September 17, 2011 in Marquette after battling a recurrent meningioma. Born: October 2, 1923 in Crystal Falls, MI. The daughter of the late Arthur and Adelina (Skur Johnson) Anderson attended the Crystal Falls Schools. She married Glenn Johnson on November 15, 1941 and the couple made their home at Ice Lake. They celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary in 1980 and Glenn preceded her in death on February 11, 1981. Bernie raised her children to enjoy the outdoors and she especially enjoyed watching the deer and birds outside of her own home. She deeply loved her family and enjoyed getting together with her friends and family at every opportunity. She always had a soft heart for all the family pets brought into her home. During her illness she was a fighter who gave her all in the face of adversity. She always had a smile and a twinkle in her eyes for all who cared for her or stopped by to visit. Bernie was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Iron River, serving on the Priscilla Circle and the Altar Guild. She was an avid bridge player, enjoyed dancing, gardening, sewing, knitting, and baking. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Karen Rice and Susan Contardi; son-in-law, Lowell Rice; four brothers, Buck, Bert, Wallace, and Gilbert Anderson; six sisters, Sadie Barich, Myrtle Boyd, Violet VanTroba, Edith Mechon, Mildred Luopa, and Alice Whitman. She is survived by sons, Bill (Nancy) Johnson of Iron River Charles Johnson of Marquette Richard (Adrian) Johnson of Neenah, WI Daughter, Cindy Johnson of Marquette Son-in-law, Derry Contardi of Caspian 14 Grandchildren 18 Great Grandchildren Special friend, Bud Meyer And numerous pets Visitation: Thursday, September 22, 2011 from 9:00 to 10:40 at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River. Funeral Services: Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church, Iron River, with Rev. Bonny Kinnunen to officiate.
