Beth L. Strom

On Wednesday, May 16, 2018, Beth L. Strom passed away after a short, but courageous battle with cancer at the age of 65 years. Beth was born on July 28, 1952 to Henry R. and Phyllis M. (Mills) Butler, who preceded her in death. She was the youngest of three, with a sister, Ruth Raymond (surviving), of Iron River, and brother, Phillip Butler (deceased). Beth was born in Cook County Illinois and relocated to Iron River, MI with her family in the spring of 1960. She attended the Iron River schools and graduated from West Iron County High School in 1970. Following her graduation and 18th birthday, Beth married Terry C. Strom, of Iron River, on July 31, 1970. They lived in Caspian, MI at the start of their marriage, until 1973, when they moved to the family homestead and had two children. Casey C. Strom and wife Becky with Beth’s seven grandchildren: Alexis, Caitlyn, Bailey, Kyla, Rylee, Layna, and Cole reside in Calumet, MI. Heidi L. King and husband Nathan with Beth’s grandson: Hunter reside in Fond du Lac, WI. Terry preceded her in death and she leaves behind her family and friends which will forever miss her. Beth spent nearly half of her marriage as a home-maker, raising her two children and taking care of the family farm. The remainder of the time she worked as a custodian and bus driver for the West Iron County School District, and retired on her 65th birthday. Beth also worked at F.W. Means and provided childcare from time to time. Although she truly loved working at the school and driving “the kids” to school and home again, her true passion was taking care of her two children, whom will forever be grateful. Those who knew Beth, will remember she was always there to help. Offering assistance to anyone in need. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, reading, and watching her grandchildren at various sporting events. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her two children and eight grandchildren. Beth will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandma, and friend. At Beth’s request, there will be no services. A celebration of life will be held for Beth and Terry on Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Bewabic State Park (Fortune Lake) from noon till 5:00 P.M.
