Blanche H. Gursky, age 90, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at Aspirus Iron River Hospital. She was born on September 24, 1928 in Rindge, NH, the daughter of the late John and Almildia (Brooks) Ranta. She graduated from Harvey High School in Painesville, Ohio. Blanche married Glen Gursky on June 3, 1947 in Crystal Falls, MI, and the couple celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in 2008, before Glen preceded her in death on August 26 of that same year. Blanche was employed by Abbot Pharmaceuticals for 24 years. She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian, and the VFW Tufts-Rondon Post #2891 Auxiliary of Crystal Falls. She was a Trustee for the VFW, was on the Planning Commission in 1995, a Trustee on Mastodon Township Board in 2002, and served as Vice President of the Alpha Senior Citizen Center. She enjoyed weaving, crocheting, crafts, camping, and motorcycle riding on her own bike. Blanche is survived by her sons, Michael (Marsha) Gursky of Iron River, David (Linda) Gursky of Little Mountain, SC, and Steven (special friend Dawn) Gursky of Iron River, MI; daughter-in-law, Pam Gursky of Iron River, MI; brother, Charles (Janice) Ranta of Winthrop Harbor, IL; sister, Pearl Kelly of Ottawa, IL; 13 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 13 great, great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and extended family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her son, Glen Gursky; daughter-in-law, Becki Gursky; brothers, John and Paul; and sisters, Mabel, Jannette, Lydia, Alma, and Mary. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 11, 2019 from 9:30 to 10:30am at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 11am at St. Cecilia Catholic Church with Fr. Jeffrey Kurtz to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Crystal Falls.
