Carol J. Mecha

Carol J. Mecha, age 73, of Iron River, MI, passed away Monday, April 4, 2016 at Aspirus Hospital, Iron River, MI. She was born March 06, 1943, the daughter of the late Harry and Agnes Pekarske. She attended the Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, WI, graduating with the Class of 1961. Carol worked in a nursing home as a CNA for 14 years. She enjoyed fishing, making jewelry with polished stones and taking care of her flowers, watching wildlife and feeding the ducks and squirrels on her property.   Carol is survived by her significant other, Louie Gintner; son, Steven (Deanne) Mecha of Iron River; daughter, Jean (Steve) Monka of Manitowoc, WI; grandchildren, Mackenzie Mraz, step grandchildren, Rachel Turbessi, Lyndsay Hamel, Trisha Zandler and Karley Musil; step great grandchildren, Elijah, Joshua, Riley and Braxton. She was preceded in death by her brother, Eugene Pekarske and her sister, Geraldine Dugan. Funeral services will be held at a later date with time and date to be announced.
