Carol A. Stanchina

Carol A. Stanchina, 91, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024, at Howard Young Medical Center in Woodruff, WI. She was born on February 21, 1933, in Iron River, MI, the daughter of the late Carl V. and Ivy (King) Zimmerman. She attended and graduated from the Iron River Schools, with the Class of 1952. Carol married Louis Stanchina on May 8, 1954, at St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River and the couple celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary in 1977, before Louis’ passing on October 7, 1977. Carol was employed by ‘New Star’ as a home health care worker for over ten years. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, the Altar Society, and sang in the choir for over 40 years. She enjoyed cooking and doing crafts. Carol is survived by her sons, Brian and Kevin Stanchina of Iron River, MI; daughters, Karen Bickley of Marquette, MI, and Kelly Stanchina of Gaastra, MI; brother, Louis Zimmerman of Iron River, MI; sister, Cheri Bellman of Eagle River, WI; three grandchildren, Colton Neville, Don Bickley Jr., and Crystal Elefante; great-grandson, Atlas Elefante; nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Carl Zimmerman. A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River with Rev. Daniel Fosu to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery.
