Carolyn A. Guiliani

August 4, 1941 — October 28, 2018

Carolyn Ann Guiliani, 77, of Iron River, MI, passed away at Aspirus Hospital in Iron River following a brief, but peaceful stay with her loved ones at her side.  She was born and grew up in Escanaba, MI and graduated from Escanaba High School.  Carolyn was the only child of Jessie (Neurohr) and George Erdman.  She was trained as a secretary and employed in this capacity over the course of many years, working in Michigan and Minnesota.  She left her favorite position, of many years, at Paine Webber in Hibbing, MN when the family relocated to Iron River in the summer of 1986. Carolyn married Urban Guiliani, her beloved husband of 35 years, on August 19, 1983 in Hibbing, MN.  Urban and Carolyn were well suited partners and enjoyed many years of dancing, often traveling many miles to dance to an especially liked band or just to dance.  They also enjoyed picking blueberries, working the garden and flower bed, and partaking of their special Sunday splurge breakfast of eggs, bacon, toast, and juice. Carolyn was an excellent seamstress and created many beautiful items including her daughter’s wedding dress that was an original creation.  She was also excellent at knitting and her beautiful work will be worn and appreciated for years to come.  She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Iron River, where she was a Eucharistic minister.  Carolyn was a member of the Enchanted Doll Club of Eagle River, WI for many years, also having dressed many dolls.  She was also a former member of the Lady Elks. Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Diana (Joel) VanLanen and their three sons—Joel Jr. of Appleton, WI, Boaz of Green Bay, WI, and Abram of Iron River.  She was preceded in death by her son, William J. Locher IV in 2013.  She is also survived by her husband and three stepchildren—Janie Guiliani (Jim King) of Gaylord, MI, Teresa (Tim) Barry of Madison, WI, and Tom (Susan) Guiliani of Pryor, OK, along with their three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.  Visitation will be held on Monday, November 5, 2018 from 9:30 to 10:45 am at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron River.  Funeral services will follow at 11 am at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Iron River with Rev. Gregory Veneklase to offer the Mass of Christian Burial.  Interment will be at Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Escanaba, MI.  To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Carolyn A.
