Celia R Guzowski

Celia R. Guzowski, age 95 of Iron River, MI, died Monday, September 7, 2009 at the Northstar Health System, Iron River. Born: September 21, 1913 in Iron River, MI The daughter of the late Stanley and Rosalie (Kempisty) Guzowski attended the Iron River schools, graduating in 1931. After graduation, she was employed as a governess in Chicago, Il and Princeton, NJ. She returned to the Iron River area in 1945 and was employed by the Krom's Department Store and later at J. C. Penny's until her retirement in 1982. Celia was a member of the former Assumption Catholic Church where she sang in the choir, a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, St. Agnes Altar Society, Rosary Sodality and St. Agnes Choir. She had a beautiful singing voice and received many requests to sing Polish hymns for funerals. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts, especially knitting and crocheting. She was also preceded in death by her brother Edward Guzowski and sisters; Frances Komblevicz, Helen Hanus, and Eleanor Mundt. She is survived by her brother, Stanley Guzowski of Iron River Sisters; Mary Bedeski of Clinton Township, MI Emma Zehaluk of Southfield, MI Freda Hojnacki of Warren, MI Special niece and ward, Judy Komblevicz as well as numerous other nieces and nephews Visitation: Friday, September 11, 2009 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River. Funeral Service: Friday, September 11, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Iron River with Rev. Norman Clisch, pastor, to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. The Ladies of the Rosary Sodality will form an Honor Guard at the funeral service. Interment: Resthaven Cemetery, Iron River The family suggests memorial donations be made to the West Iron County District Library. Funeral arrangements by the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River.
