Charles D. Benjamin, age 84, of Caspian, MI passed away Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, MI. Charles was born August 12, 1931 in Flint, MI, the son of the late Oliver and Joyce (Rice) Benjamin. He was employed as a custodian engineer in the public school system for over 35 years. Charles was a member of the First Baptist Church of Iron River. He enjoyed oil painting, fishing, bird hunting, camping, and gardening. He was also active in Boy Scouts for many years. Charles moved to the Iron River area in 1988 and worked for the U.S. Forest Service. He was also the caretaker of Camp Filibert Roth on Golden Lake. He was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Potter and his grandson, Duane Benjamin. He is survived by his three sons, Randy (Malou) Benjamin of Anchorage, AK, Todd (Michelle) Benjamin of Gaastra, MI, and Brad Benjamin of Crystal Falls, MI; ten grandchildren, Dalton, Melissa, Desirae, Ted, James, Marcus, Amanda, Cory, Rafael, and Bianka; and six great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 25, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 12 p.m. with Pastor Matt Rappley and Pastor Michael Rucinski to officiate. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery, Iron River.
