Charles ""Tuna"" M. Froblom, age 74, Iron River Twp., MI died Saturday, June 21, 2008 at his home. Born: February 25, 1934 in Stambaugh, MI The son of the late Mauritz and Esther (Sagerson) Froblom attended the Iron River High School. He later joined the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS Columbus. Charles married the former Rosemary Schiavo and the couple were lifelong residents. Rosemary preceded him in death on November 9, 2000 He was employed as a miner by the MA Hanna Mining Company. After the local mines closed, he worked in the woods and at construction and carpentry. Tuna was a member of the VFW, Reino Post #21 of Stambaugh and the Alfred Branchini Post 17 of Iron River. He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed woodworking, golfing, downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, traveling and motorcycling. He also loved animals, dancing, and playing cards. He would always remember everyone's birthday and would visit whenever a person was ill or down. He was known for keeping Silver Lake in tip-top shape. He is survived by his very special friend, Sally Blyze One son, Ronald Froblom of Iron River Four daughters; Tammy (Harry) Weng of Ishpeming, MI Terry (John) Howard of San Diego, CA Susan (Steve) Maurer of Las Vegas, NV Sally Samis of Souix Falls, SD One brother, Alden (Mary) Froblom of Iron River Three sisters; Pat (Steve) Kaad of Iron Mountain, MI Nancy (Glen) Schreiber of Cecil, WI Hallie Rachey of Green Bay, WI Grandchildren; Alysa and Erik Froblom John Samis Great grandchildren Taylor and Braden Samis Brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many special nieces and nephews Visitation: Wednesday, June 25, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River. Memorial Services: Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River with Rev. Dawn Treado-Green to officiate. Interment: Resthaven Cemetery, Iron River. The West Side Veterans Council will accord Military Rites. Funeral arrangements by the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River.
