Cora J. Lawrence

Cora J. Lawrence, age 75, of Iron River, MI, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born October 5, 1941 in Big Falls, WI, the daughter of the late Lynwood and Viola (Carey) McKay. Cora attended and graduated from Waupaca High School and was employed for 26 years at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI. On September 15, 1990, Cora married Joseph A. Lawrence in Milwaukee and the couple moved to the Iron River area to make their home in 2003. She was employed as an assistant manager at Family Dollar for several years and volunteered at the Senior Citizen Center. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and loved going for walks. Cora is survived by her husband, Joseph; son, Bart (Heather) Jaeger of Iron River; stepson, Jack Lawrence of Hartford; brother, Lowell McKay of Alabama; grandchildren, Ashley, John, Dylan and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her brother, Dwain McKay and sisters, Rose and Shirley McKay. A Memorial service will be held on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River with Pastor Dawn Robbins to officiate.
