Curtis H. Lindahl Age 89 Iron River, MI Passed away Monday, November 19, 2012 at Northstar Health System surrounded by his family. He was born September 18, 1923 at the Lindahl Farm, Beechwood, MI, the eldest of five children to Harold and Martha (Durow) Lindahl. Curtis graduated from Iron River High School with the Class of 1941. He earned an Associate Degree from North Park Junior College, Chicago, IL in 1943. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country as a Lieutenant J.G. aboard the USS Hyde APA in the South Pacific during WWII. He married the former Eleanor Kalbfleisch on June 28, 1947 in Brown City, MI. They returned to Iron River where he owned and operated Lindahl Chevrolet until his retirement in 1988. He was an active member of Grace Covenant Church, The Gideons International, Kiwanis, and life member of the VFW. In retirement he volunteered with Mobile Missionary Assistance Program for eight years at churches and Bible camps in Mexico, Canada and the U.S. Winters were spent in Vero Beach, FL from 1996 to 2007, where he and his wife volunteered at Life for Youth Christian Camp. They returned to Iron River in 2007. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Andy and one sister, Carol Jackson. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Eleanor Two daughters, Gail Baker of Iron River Lyn Lindahl of Walled Lake, MI Two sons, Mark (Carolyn) Lindahl of Iron River Dean (Noomie) Lindahl of Forest Lake, MN Two brothers, Elder (Muriel) Lindahl of Minneapolis, MN David (Betty) Lindahl of Iron River One sister, Ruby (Charles) Isaacson of Houghton, MI Nine grandchildren, Katie Lindahl ( Jamie Milton), Matt (Beth) Lindahl, Tim Lindahl, Sarah Baker, Betsy (John) Watkins, Ben Baker, Jordan Lindahl, Stefan (Brittany) Lindahl, and Daniel Lindahl Four great grandchildren Visitation will be held Saturday, November 24, 2012 from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. at Grace Covenant Church of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev James Swanson II to officiate. Interment will be in Stambaugh Cemetery, Iron River. The West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites at the graveside. Memorials may be made to Grace Covenant Church or The Gideons International.
