Dale M. Bemis, age 74, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at his home. Dale was born on July 31, 1949 in Stambaugh, MI, the son of the late James and Catherine (Deppiesse) Bemis. He attended St. Agnes Catholic School and graduated from Iron River High School. After graduation, he entered the United States Army. As a career serviceman, he served and traveled extensively throughout the world. He completed a Military Pilgrimage to Lourdes, France and traveled extensively through Europe and Asia. He attended the University of Maryland for two years while in the service and retired on December 1, 1991. After his retirement, he returned to Iron River to make his home. Dale was an active member of St. Agnes Catholic Church where he served as usher, Catholic Near East Welfare Association, Pontifico Mission Associates (PMA), St. Lawrence Seminary, the VFW, Amvets, American Military Retirees Association, and the Smithsonian. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, gardening, and his afternoons at intermission with his friends. He is survived by a brother, Duane Bemis of McGraw, NY., niece, nephews, aunts, uncles, and extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Gerald. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Iron River with Rev. Daniel Dapaah to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery, Iron River. The West Side Veterans and the U.S. Army Honor Guard will accord Military Rites at the graveside.
