Dan P. Friend

Dan P. Friend, age 70, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at Aspirus Iron River Hospital. He was born on September 9, 1952, in Detroit, MI, the son of the late George W. and Helen (Stolberg) Friend. He attended the local schools, graduating from West Iron County High School. Dan was a self-employed carpenter building log homes and many different structures in the local and surrounding areas. He enjoyed hunting, trout fishing, photography, listening to music, camping, and was an avid outdoorsman. Dan was also a volunteer fireman in his younger and courageous days. He had the kindest blue eyes and a great sense of humor. He will be deeply missed. Dan is survived by daughter, Danielle (John Stubbs) Friend of Kenosha, WI and Susan (Wayne) Lucas of Hardwood, MI: brothers, Eric Friend and Mike (Doreen) Friend, both of Marquette, MI; sisters, Georgina (Jerry) Hess of Gaylanta, MI and Margie (Gene) Stockero of Sanford, MI; grandchildren, Nathan Manincor, Jeffrey Friend, and Samantha Lucas; great grandchildren, Ryder Friend and Benson Manincor; girlfriend, Ella Ables of Iron River, MI; close friend and caregiver, Dale Vassar of Iron River, MI; nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Susan Zampogna. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, May 1, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at The American Legion Reino Post 21 in Iron River.
