Daniel L Vignali

Daniel L. Vignali, age 67, of Appleton, WI, formerly of Iron River, MI, passed away Monday, January 4, 2016.He was born December 12, 1948 in Phelps, WI, the son of Leo E. and Catherine J. (Myszka) Vignali. He attended the Phelps Schools, graduating from Phelps High School with the Class of 1967. He was a US Air Force Veteran. While in the service in Okinawa, he met the love of his life and became engaged on December 4, 1969. Daniel married the former Sandra L. Stafford on December 12, 1970 at the old St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Phelps, and the couple celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary in 2015.Daniel was employed as a foreman for WE Energies for 38 years. He also worked at and served on the board of St. Vincent DePaul and participated in the reopening of the new store.He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian He was in the first graduating class of the Eucharist Ministry School for the Diocese of Marquette and served in his Parish of St. Agnes and St. Cecilia. He was also a member of American Legion Alfred Branchini Post # 17 of Iron River, and auxiliary member of VFW Ottawa Post #3134 of Iron River. An avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt and fish, and especially enjoyed hunting out west with his sons. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.Daniel is survived by his wife, Sandra; sons, Mark Vignali of Appleton, WI, and his sons, C.J. and Conor, and granddaughter, Arria, Chris (Liz) Vignali of Destin FL, and their daughters, Olivia and Gianna, Greg (Frédérique) Vignali of Appleton, WI, and their daughters, Dominique and Gabrielle, and Kenn (Samantha) MacDonald of Milwaukee, WI; mother, Catherine Vignali of Caspian; sisters, Susan Ehrich of Chandler, AZ, Linda (Eric) Deksnis of Gladstone, MI, Debbie (Willie) Ketchum of Caspian, MI, and Kim (Michael) Sagen of Oswego, IL; many nieces, nephews, and extended family.He was preceded in death by his father, Leo.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry, 313 West Genesee Street, Iron River, MI.Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River.Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 7, 2016 at 3:30 p.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian, with Rev. Gregory Veneklase to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. The West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites following the service.Pallbearers will be Bruce Callovi, Richard Wilken, Scott Patterson, Jerry Weeks, Bill Trotter, Ronald Lewis, and Rudy Gonzalez.Interment will be in Holy Angels Catholic Cemetery, Appleton, WI.
