David L. Pearson

David Lawrence Pearson, age 60, of Beechwood, MI, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 12, 2018 in Iron River, MI. He was born December 21, 1957 in Minneapolis, MN, and is proceeded in death by baby Isaiah, father Lawrence Pearson, mother Margery Susan (Sue) (Denn) Pearson.   Dave sat on the Board of Directors for the Beechwood Historical Society, was an active member of the Golden K Club and a member of the Classic Farm Machinery Club of Iron County.  Previous to his relocation to the Iron River area, he resided in Minnesota, and while there, was employed as a Crew Chief for Northwest Airlines at MSP for over 20 years, where he was a member of the Machinists Union.  Earlier in his professional life, he spent many years serving his community as a Volunteer firefighter and EMT with the Bloomington Fire Department and worked as a Landscaper for Bachman’s, where he was a member of the Teamsters Union. Our David is survived by his significant other, Myra (Petroski) Freeberg; sons, Jesse Pearson of Mesa, AZ and Dan (Meredeth Brower) Pearson of Westminster, CO; one granddaughter, Kendal Pearson; brothers, Steve (Stacy) Pearson of Buffalo, MN and Scott (Sheila) Bentzen of Columbia Heights, MN; numerous foster brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins and “in-laws” whom Dave loved and regarded as his own. He was a true patriot and a valuable asset to his community, family, friends and neighbors alike.  Dave was always quick with a smile, a laugh, and a deep warm hug for all those near and dear to him.  He was known by many names, Dad, Brother, GGG, friend, and largely Beloved Uncle Dave (a.k.a. B.U.D.)  There was always time for his “little friends” as he called them, the deer, wild birds, his chickens and special needs and “standard issue” cat.  He was a knowledgeable and true nature lover, stargazer, outdoorsman, hunter, and fisherman, with a passion for the north woods and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.  Family reunions, meat-feasts, Man Day, Spam-O-Rama’s and bonfires will never be the same.  Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the Beechwood Township Hall. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon to follow.   Private interment will be later in 2018 in the Iron River, MI area.
