It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David J. Symmonds of Crystal Falls, MI. at Iron County Medical Care Facility. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. David left us on April 7th, 2025. Born on November 19th, 1953, in Ann Arbor MI, the son of the late Robert and Marylee (Burke) Symmonds. He attended the Urbana, IL Schools, graduating from Urbana High School in 1972. David married Connie Felkner on August 8th, 1975. They celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary in 2018. Connie preceded him in death on November 27th, 2018. He was employed by the Clinton Nuclear Power Plant in Clinton IL for almost 25 years serving as a General Forman. He was part of the Central Laborer’s Local 703 Union. David was also a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Crystal Falls. David's life was a tapestry woven with a passion for sports, unwavering devotion to his family, and a boundless zest for life. As well as being the number one supporter of his daughters’ athletic careers throughout their childhood, he was a devoted fan of the University of Illinois Fighting Illini basketball and football teams. His voice was a familiar cheer in every season. He was equally loyal to the Detroit Lions and Tigers, standing by them with hope and dedication through triumphs and trials alike. David enjoyed golf, camping, spending time outdoors, and many campfires. Above all, David found his greatest joy in the moments spent with his grandchildren, Wyatt, Kyla, and Karter. Whether it was a shared story, a golf cart ride, or a quiet moment of connection, his love for them knew no bounds. His warmth and humor left an impression on everyone around him. David is also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Symmonds and sister, Allison Gaglio. David is survived by his daughters, Amanda Zambon of Crystal Falls, MI and Lindsey (Grant) Erickson of Iron River, MI.; grandchildren Wyatt David Zambon, and Kyla Jay and Karter Jon Erickson; nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. They will carry forward his spirit and cherish the many memories they shared together. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River, MI. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Margaret Padilla to officiate. David left behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and laughter. May his memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew him.
