Deborah J. Tulppo, age 67 of Iron River, MI, passed away on Friday March 22, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on May 16, 1951 in Ypsilanti, MI, the daughter of George and Virginia (King) Brown. She attended Ypsilanti Public Schools, class of 1970. Deborah married Robert Tulppo on September 23, 2000 in Belleville, MI., and the couple immediately moved to Iron River, MI. She worked at Eastern Michigan University, as an administrative assistant for 20 years. Deborah retired from Lindwall Motors in Iron River, MI as a secretary, and spent some time working at the Wooden Nickel. She was a member of the American Legion Reino Post #21 Ladies Auxiliary, and proudly served as the Legion’s Club Manager. She enjoyed camping, dancing, sightseeing around the Upper Peninsula, and spending time with her family. Deborah is survived by her husband, Robert Tulppo of Iron River; son, Ronald (Stephanie) Tandy of Saline, MI; daughters, Jennifer (Jason) Cole of Iron River, MI and Rachelle (Fiancé John Rose) Tandy of Ypsilanti, MI; sisters, Donna (Thomas) Madigan, Eleanor “Joey” Davis, and Barbara (Jim) Campbell; 14 grandchildren; Step son’s Alan (Kay) Tulppo, and Michael Tulppo; two fur babies, Lexi and Maggie; extended family and many friends. Deborah is preceded in death by her parents George and Virginia (King) Brown; sister, Shirley Ellis; brothers, George Brown Jr., Edward “Butch” Brown and Earl Brown. The family would especially like to thank the staff of Aspirus Iron River Hospital, for their constant, attentive, and compassionate care of Deborah and her family in her final days. A celebration of life gathering will take place at the American Legion, Reino Post #21 4:00 pm, Friday March 29, 2019, with dinner to follow 212 W. Washington St Stambaugh, MI 49935
