Debra Lynn Nordstrom Persson, 41, of Flint, MI passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025. She was born on January 11, 1984, in Iron River, MI, the daughter of Joseph and Debra (Marshall) Nordstrom. She graduated from West Iron County High School in the Class of 2002 and continued her education at Ferris State University, earning her degree in nursing in 2005. A Registered Nurse (RN) with an unwavering passion for helping others, Debra dedicated her life to providing care and comfort to those in need. Debra’s life was marked by courage, resilience, and an enormous heart. Despite facing many personal struggles, she never gave up. On June 12, 2019, Debra bravely entered residential treatment, determined to overcome her challenges. After completing 61 days of residential treatment, she transitioned into Recovery Housing and proudly completed the program on June 17, 2021. Her journey of recovery became a source of inspiration to many. Her dedication to helping others led her to become a Certified Peer Recovery Coach with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. In this role, she used her lived experience to guide and support others struggling with addiction especially pregnant women. Debra’s impact on the lives she touched is immeasurable, and her compassion and strength will forever be remembered. Debra was a devoted wife to her husband, Aubrey Persson, with whom she shared a loving marriage since February 11, 2017. Together, they raised a beautiful family, including their children: Liam, Noah, Ryann, Jordyn, Carstyn, and Aidon. She is further survived by her loving parents, Joseph and Debra Nordstrom of Iron River, MI; sister, Tanya (Dan) Kallio of Iron River, MI; brothers, Joshua (Nurjamal) Nordstrom of Kingsford, MI, Joshua (Fawn) Boyd of Canadian Lakes, MI, and Scott (Amy) Baker of Tomahawk, WI; nieces and nephews, Brennan, Bailey, Alexis Rullcoski, Tanner, Camilla, Jedi Nordstrom, Hunter and Blake Baker, Jacob Wicklund, Amelia Bednarowski, Austyn Trice, and Madisyn and Mason Boyd; extended family and friends. Debra’s legacy is one of love, compassion, and resilience. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Henry and Janet Marshall and Walter and Irene Nordstrom. Debra’s memory will be cherished by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched at a visitation held on Friday, June 13, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. The Upper Peninsula Nurses Honor Guard will conduct honors at 11 a.m. and a memorial service will follow with Pastor Lance Crevier to officiate. Debra will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her dedication to her profession, her incredible strength in the face of adversity, and her ability to transform her struggles into a source of strength and healing for others.
