Debra A. Shamion

Debra A. Shamion, 69, of Caspian, MI, passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Aspirus Iron River Hospital.

She was born on August 17, 1956, in Stambaugh, MI, the daughter of the late Stanley and Margaret (Menghini) Shamion. She attended West Iron County Schools.

Debra enjoyed gardening, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren. Her animals were also important to her. Debra had a special bond with her sisters and enjoyed spending time with them.

Debra is survived by her daughters, Heather (Roman) Alexa of Iron River, MI and Julie (Travis) Benchoff of Crystal Falls, MI; grandchildren, Alex, Amber, Ayden, Avery, Asher, Cole, Drew, and Cami; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Zayleigh; brothers, Richard (Mary) Shamion and Ronnie (Peggy) Shamion, both of Iron River, MI; sisters, Loretta Janovicz of Kenosha, WI, Sandra (Robert) Uren of Kenosha, WI, Barbara (Richard) Odgers of Watseka, IL; sister-in-law, Christine Shamion of Iron River; brother-in-law, Daniel (Sandra) Pociopa of Munising, MI; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was also preceded in death by the father of her children, Jeffrey Pociopa; brother, Jerry Shamion; and sister, Beverly Modory.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mike Poindexter to officiate.

Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery.
