Delou Ehlinger

DeLou ""Dude"" R. Ehlinger, age 81 of Iron River, MI passed away with his family by his side on Friday April 10, 2009 at the Bell Memorial Hospital, Ishpeming, MI. Born: February 9, 1928 in Hollister, WI. The son of the late Joseph and Henrietta (Hoeffs) Ehlinger spent most of his life in Iron River. He attended the Iron River schools. He married the former Lorraine Williams August 9, 1947 in Iron River and the couple made their home in Iron River Township. The couple was soon to celebrate their 62nd Wedding Anniversary. Dude was employed by the Iron River Supply as a mechanic for over 30 years and then he operated Dude's Service for over 20 years retiring in 2006. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved going to camp and camp life. He enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Iron River and was an active and life member of the Iron River Elks Lodge #1671 where he served two terms as Exulted Ruler. He was an active member of the Elks Lodge of Sorrow Ritual Team and former member of the Golden K Club. He was also preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Kristine Ehlinger. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Sons; Darrel (Cheryl) Ehlinger, Norway, MI Gary Ehlinger, Iron River Daughters; Julie (Ken) Cattani, Sobieski, WI Kelly (David) Hill, Iron River Brothers; Elzmer (Lucy) Ehlinger, Iron River Merlyn Ehlinger, Iron River Duane (Dorothy) Ehlinger, Green Bay, WI Sisters; Ramona (Wayne) Norton, Moab, Utah Sandy (Wayne) Thibodeau, Iron River Seven grandchildren Ten great grandchildren One great great grandchild Nieces and nephews Visitation: Tuesday April 14, 2009 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River. The Lodge of Sorrow service will be conducted at 6 p.m. A liturigical prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Service: Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at 11 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Iron River with the Rev. Norman Clisch, pastor, to offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
