Dennis W. Anderson, 66, of Sun Prairie and formerly of Beaver Dam died unexpectedly on Friday, June 14, 2013 at the family home at Hagerman Lake in Iron River, MI. The longtime practitioner and proponent of education was born August 6, 1946 to Herbert W. and Jean (Dennis) Anderson in Chicago, IL. Dennis graduated from North Park Academy in 1964. He subsequently attended Bradley University and earned his B.A. from North Park College (now University) in 1969. He later received his Master 's Degree in Administration Education from Loyola University of Chicago. On June 21, 1969, Dennis married Jenanne Inez Anderson in Chicago, where the couple resided until they moved to Beaver Dam in 1977. Dennis devoted his professional career to education as a classroom teacher, admissions officer, and administrator. He taught 5th grade in Des Plaines, IL, from 1969 to 1977 and was President of the school district 's teachers association. He then accepted the position of Assistant Director of Admissions at Wayland Academy in Beaver Dam, where he worked, becoming the Director of Admissions. He then was a consultant for Dick Hedberg and Associates before joining the Beaver Dam Unified School District as the Assistant Principal of the Beaver Dam Middle School. From 1988 to his retirement in 1993, Dennis served as the Grammar School Principal for the Lomira School District. An avid golfer, Dennis was a member of Old Hickory Golf Club for many years and was the club champion in 1989. He also served as a member of several Old Hickory governing and supervising committees. He celebrated his Scottish and Swedish heritage and enjoyed reading, music, and following most Chicago professional sports teams, especially his beloved Cubs. He took great delight in the outdoors, including exploring the wilderness areas of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, particularly the environs of Iron County and the area surrounding Hagerman Lake. Campfires, saunas, cooking and celebrating the wows of the Northern Lights, wildlife and flora "" all were special to him. Dennis truly enjoyed the many previously cited interests and activities, but none more than those which concerned and involved his family and close friends. He is survived and lovingly treasured by his wife, Jenanne; his daughters, Jessica (Dave) Rodin of Beaver Dam, and Karin (Brandon) Johnson of Madison, WI; son, Joseph (Lisa) Anderson of Madison, WI; and grandsons, Kendall and Beckett Rodin of Beaver Dam, and Charlie Johnson of Madison. Other survivors include his sister-in-law, Karin Erickson Deitrick of Denver, CO; a niece, Kristi Sterling of Denver, CO; a nephew, Daniel Deitrick of Danville, PA; and cousin, Jay Dennis of Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Irving J. and Myrtle Hulting Erickson; his maternal and paternal grandparents; aunts, uncles and extended family. A private family celebration of life will be held. Memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Funeral arrangements by the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River.
