Dennis J. Kallio

Dennis J. Kallio, age 67, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the Iron River Care Center.  He was born on November 17, 1951 in Allentown, PA, the son of Laila (Tauriainen) Kallio and the late Viljo Kallio.  He attended the Stambaugh Schools, graduating from West Iron County High School in 1970.  Dennis was a US Army veteran, earning an honorable discharged after a tour of duty in Vietnam.  He was employed as the plant operator of the waste water treatment center for 23 years.  Dennis was a member of the Teamsters Union and the American Legion Reino Post #21.  He enjoyed fishing and was a supporter of animals.  Dennis is survived by his mother, Laila Kallio; brother, Roger (Barbara Marcell) Kallio; sister, Carol Stolberg; niece, Gina Kallio; uncle, Wallace Tauriainen; and several cousins.  A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 24, 2019 at 2:00pm at Resthaven Cemetery.  The West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Northwoods Animal Shelter or a charity of your choice.
