Dennis E. Shinn

Dennis E. Shinn, age 74, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain, MI. He was born on November 11, 1946 in Jackson, MI, the son of the late Stanley and Doris (Harvey) Shinn. Dennis reconnected with his childhood friend, the former Sharon Wright, and they married on April 14, 2017 in Iron River, where they made their home. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army, retiring after 20 years of service. Dennis was a member of the VFW Ottawa Post #3134 in Iron River and The American Legion Reino Post #21 of Iron River. He enjoyed oil painting and painting nature scenes. Dennis was also a hunter and fisherman. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Dennis is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughter, Heidi (Bastian) Shinn of Germany; brother, Mike; sisters, Sue (Dave), Debbie (Al), and Diane; grandson, Danny Shinn in Germany; six grandchildren in Missouri; eight great grandchildren; many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
