Dennis E. Yackel

Dennis E. Yackel, 77, of Gaastra, MI, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Aspirus Iron River Hospital.

He was born on December 13, 1948, in Iron River, MI, the son of the late Edward and Lucille Yackel. He attended the Iron River Schools, graduating with the Class of 1966.

Dennis married Janet Thomas on June 22, 1991, at Nanaimo Park in Iron River. They celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary this summer.

He was employed as magistrate for Iron County. Dennis was a member of First Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time with his dogs Dakota and Kiki, and watching the Green Bay Packers. Dennis also enjoyed playing and watching baseball.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Janet Yackel of Gaastra; son, Kyle Yackel of Marquette, MI; brother, Edwin Yackel of Iron River; sisters, Susan Passamani of Iron River and Krissy Yackel of Amasa, MI; grandchildren, Hannah Richards, Nicholas Scott Miller, and Dylan Masanova; great-granddaughters, Rhea River Richards and Alayna Mae Palmer; nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by son, Andrew Yackel and brother, Eugene Yackel.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
