Devon A. Marcell, age 22, of Iron River, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 22, 2017 in Albany, Georgia. He was born March 2, 1994 in Iron Mountain, MI, the son of Stanley and Amy (Bond) Marcell. He attended the West Iron County Schools, graduating with the Class of 2012. He was employed as a surveyor for Encompass Energy Services, Duluth, MN. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, scuba diving, football, welding, being with his friends and anything outdoors. Devon was known for his huge heart and beaming smile. He touched every person he met in a positive way. Devon was always up for an adventure and trying new things was exciting to him. Devon is survived by his mother, Amy (Joseph) Marcell of Iron River; father, Stanley Marcell of Iron River; brothers, Zach and Colton Marcell, and Alec Schmelebeck, all of Iron River; sisters, Amanda and Mariah Marcell of Iron River and Nicole Marcell of Ishpeming.; grandparents, Nancy and Dennis Ponozzo, and Diane and Ed Marcell. Devon always thought putting his family first was important, from snowboarding and doing other outdoor activities with his brothers, to spending quality time with his sisters. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Arthur Bond; uncle, Craig Ponozzo; and grandparents, Joan and William Marcell. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 29, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor John Fish to officiate. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery, in the spring.
