Dixie Denis

Dixie Lee Rose Denis, age 75, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at Aspirus Iron River Hospital. She was born on February 7, 1947, in Stambaugh, MI, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Viola (Clements) Belongie. She attended the Stambaugh Schools, graduating with the Class of 1965 and attended the St. Mary’s College of Nursing, where she obtained her LPN Degree. Dixie married Curt Denis on July 12, 1969 at St. Mary’s Church in Gaastra, MI. The couple celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary in 2013, and Curt preceded her in death on March 10, 2014. She was employed as an LPN at the Iron River Care Center for 35 years. She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Caspian, MI. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, reading, watching mystery movies, and working on puzzles. Dixie is survived by her daughter, Georgianna (Tony) Tomasoski of Iron River, MI; sons, Ira (Rachel) Denis of Sault Ste. Marie, MI and Brandon (Cherie) Denis of Gaastra, MI; grandchildren, Jordyn (Chris) Trebilcot, Jacob Tomasoski, Alexis and Gavin Denis, McKenzie and Parker Denis; sister-in-law, Vickie Mott of Manitowoc, WI; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Lyle and Glen Belongie, three infant sisters, and sister, Viola Stachowicz. Visitation will be held Saturday April 23, 2022 from 9:30am to 11:00am at Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River with Pastor Dawn Robbins to officiate.
