Domenic "Chee Chee" A. Gugliotto

Domenic “Chee Chee” A. Gugliotto, age 91, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Monday, June 25, 2018 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls, Michigan.  He was born on March 21, 1927, in Caspian, MI; the son of the late Domenic and Blanche (Tessadri) Gugliotto. Chee Chee attended and graduated from Stambaugh High School.  After graduation, he went on to serve his country in the United States Navy during World War II.   Chee Chee married Anna Mae Vidas on September 10, 1955 at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Stambaugh, Michigan. The couple would have celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this year.   He was employed as a miner for the M.A. Hanna Mining Company for 30 years. He also served as the Bates Township Supervisor for six years, during which time he and his wife were instrumental in initiating and securing funding for the restoration of Sunset Lake Park and for the construction of the Bates Sewer System. Chee Chee also represented the Townships of Bates and Iron River as a member of the Iron County Board of Commissioners. He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Caspian and the Engineers Club.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being in the outdoors. He was also active in sports, including, ski jumping, golfing, refereeing and baseball. Chee Chee is survived by his wife, Anna Mae; sister, Adeline Kovaleski of Arizona and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. Visitation will be held Monday, July 2, 2018 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Caspian with Rev. Gregory Veneklase to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in the Bates Cemetery, with the West Side Veterans to accord Military Rites at the graveside.
