Donald “Barry” Evans, age 61, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility. He was born on January 8, 1958 in Phelps, WI, the son of the late Donald and Doris (Peters) Evans. Barry married Alita Bushor on May 8, 1976 in Clearwater Lake, WI. The couple celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary in 2019. He was a self-employed as a logger for many years with Blaise Andreski and for the last several years as a truck driver for Sowinski Trucking. He was a former member of the Iron River Elks Lodge #1671. Barry enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and he was practically MacGyver as he could fix anything. He loved riding his Harley motorcycle and spending time with his family. Barry is survived by his wife, Alita; children, Nikki (Donovan Wheeler) Evans, Cody Evans, and Heather (Seth) Verhagen, all of Iron River, MI; brothers, Cliff (Nancy) and Scott (Brenda) Evans; sisters, Peggy (Bob) Schau and Penny (Richard) Freund; 13 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was also preceded in death by his infant son. A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Clearwater Lake, WI. Memorial services will follow at 2pm with Robert Bruette to officiate.
