Doris H. Bergstrom Mattioli

Doris Helen Bergstrom Mattioli, age 92, of Salida, CO, formerly of Iron River, MI, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2015. Doris was born April 24, 1923 in Beechwood (Iron River), the daughter the late Oscar and Alma Benson. She attended the Iron River Schools, graduating from Iron River High School in 1940. Doris then moved to Chicago, IL, where she married Wesley Bergstrom of Iron River (1916 – 1991) in 1946. She was employed as a secretary for A.B. Dick Company in Chicago, retiring in 1977. After retirement, she and Wesley spent their winters in Clearwater, FL, and later moving year round back in Iron River. She later married Falio Mattioli of Iron River, who also preceded her in death in 2011. She was a member of the Grace Covenant Church of Iron River. She enjoyed sports, including tennis and golf, and loved gardening as well as board and card games, reading, and putting together beautiful puzzles. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Ed, Bert, and Walter Benson, and nine sisters, Stella Hendrickson Scott, Fay Mueller Brady, Myrtle Erickson, Clara Benson, Ruth Carlson, Mildred Eastman, Esther Roudebush, June Kosky, and Elinor Serena. Doris is survived by her sons and daughter, Robert (Linda) Bergstrom of Park Ridge, IL, Wendy (Michael) Norman of West Bridgewater, MA, Randy (Linda) Bergstrom of Salida, CO, and Kevin (Sam) Bergstrom of Poplar Grove, IL; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by many generations of nieces, nephews, and cousins. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at noon on Sunday July 12, 2015 at Rosehill Cemetery, Beechwood, MI, with Pastor James Swanson II officiating.
