Doris B. Koski, age 84, of Iron River, MI, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2016 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, MI. She was born December 7, 1931 in Iron River, MI, to Carl and Carrie Stromberg. She attended the Iron River Schools, graduating from Iron River High School with the Class of 1950. Doris married Irving “Ike” Koski on May 18, 1951 in Iron River. The couple made their home in Bates Township, and celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 2001. Ike passed away February 24, 2009. Doris served on the Bates Township Election Board for many years and was a member of the Bates Homemakers. Doris was a stay at home Mom who had many friend , but her husband and family were always her priority. She instilled the values of honesty, integrity, respect, and stick-to-it-ness in her children. She couldn’t wait for the summer when the berries (all kinds) were ripe. In later years she would get on Telephone Time to sell her blackberries. She was a wonderful mother who cooked, cleaned and took care of her family everyday of her life before moving to the Iron County Medical Care Facility. She doted on her grandchildren, Wayne, Christina, Christy, Alex, Michael, Kimberly, Shannon, and Melissa. Doris is survived by one daughter Christine Kennedy of Iron River; four sons, William F. Koski of Hermansville, MI, Robert L. Koski of Virginia, Brian (Wendy) Koski of Iron River, and David W. Koski of Iron River; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and extended family. She had four brothers, Harold, Kenneth, Donald, and Douglas, and one sister, Jeanette Witcomb who all preceded her in death.. Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 1, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Bates Township Cemetery, with Pastor Dawn Treado to officiate.
