Doris M. Miller

Doris M. Miller, age 95 of Gaastra, MI, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at the Iron River Care Center, Iron River. Born: August 22, 1913 in Iron Mountain, MI The daughter of the late James and Hazel (Crawford) McParlon attended Hulse Grade school and graduated from Iron Mountain High School. She married Stanley Paul Miller on June 25, 1932 and the couple made their home in Iron Mountain, moving to Stambaugh in 1945. They lived for many years at Pentoga Park. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1982. Paul preceded her in death in 1990. Doris worked as a nurse aide at the Iron County Medical Care Facility and the Iron River Care Center for over 30 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian, St. Anne's Society, and the Altar Society. She also attended fellowship at Assembly of God with her daughters. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, shopping, working crossword puzzles, bird watching and going out to eat. She especially enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with her loved ones. She was also preceded in death by daughters Mary Elaine Andree, Connie Zimmerman, and Patsy Ann Miller, brother Glenn McParlon, and grandson Daniel Rosengren. She is survived by sons; Jim (Ana) Miller of Green Bay, WI Paul Miller Jr. of Iron Mountain, MI Daughters; Jean Miskell of Iron River Karen Rosengren of Iron River Sons-in-law, Robert Andree of Iron River Louis Zimmerman of Iron River 18 grandchildren 24 great grandchildren 6 great, great grandchildren Good friend, Shirley Erickson Visitation: Monday, February 2, 2009 from 9:30 to 11:00 at St Cecilia Catholic Church, Caspian Funeral: Monday, February 2, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Caspian, with Rev. Daniel Moll to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. The ladies of St. Anne 's Society will form an honor guard for the funeral.
